Genoa, Jan. 1 O.S. . . [9 lines] The Island of Corsica is
again all in confusion. A body of about 2000 men have
assembled, well-arm'd, and have declar'd against receiving
the new regulation. All the clergy in the island are become
trumpeters of the rebellion, and we expect every hour to
hear of a general revolt. The chiefs of the malcontents
pretend that their late submission was to the French general
and not to the republick, and that they will never admit of
any terms of accommodation, but under the guarantee of that
crown.
