8 May 1738:12 (143)
London. January 21. Wednesday the thirteen following
malefactors were executed at Tyburn, viz. . . [2d para.,
line 5] the Rev. Mr. Wilson, of Covent Garden, attended
Carr, another clergyman Mrs. Adams, and the ingenious and
Rev. Mr. Guthery pray'd, and set the psalm to them and the
rest. Carr and Mrs. Adams both behav'd in a sedate and
compos'd manner, without shewing any signs of fear; Carr
just before he was turn'd off, several times desir'd the
company to take notice, he was innocent, and was not guilty
of the fact he was to die for; and just as the cart drew
away, he kiss'd Mrs. Adams, and they went off hand in hand.
