London. Extract of a letter from Paris, Oct. 11. An
adventure has lately happened here to an actress of the
French comedy, which forms at present the conversation of
all gallant circles, and draws upon her the daily sarcasms
of her companions.
"A certain English Lord had kept this actress for some
months, but finding out always acts of infidelity in favour
of a dancer at the opera, he took a resolution and quitted
her. His Lordship, unhappily, went one day last month to
the comedy, when our actress performed in the Iphigenia of
Racine. Nothing could be more voluptuous than her dress,
and she played her part with a sensibility and tenderness
that were extraordinary. This was too much not to kindle
again in his Lordship's heart a fire but ill extinguished. .
. [tale of contretemps between three lovers of the actress.]
