Paris, Aug 25. O.S. . . The ball which the city gave the
30th of last month was one of the most brilliant that ever
we saw. A great hall was built in the court of the Town-
house, which form'd a magnificent prospect by the exquisite
taste of the decorations and the art with which it was
illuminated. Three large rooms were built close to the
hall, in which all sorts of refreshments were serv'd. It is
reckon'd that 1800 bottles of champaign, 4000 bottles of
burgundy, 15000 peaches, above 30 hogsheads of limonade and
orgeat, with a vast quantity of hams, patridges, &c. were
consum'd at this ball.
