Paris, July 18. Besides the tumults in this city, Caen,
Roven, there have been disturbances also at Troyes in
Campagne, where the populace burnt down one house, and set
on fire the straw which covers the walls of that city. Some
mischief has been done at Toulouse, but we have no account
of the particulars. In short, the populace never was known
so audacious as at present; there come out every day
satyrical writings, which some are so bold as to sing
publickly in our streets. The province of Bretagne refusing
to pay the new tax of 2 per cent. Troops are order'd
thither to compel them to comply.
