Venice, June 3. On Wednesday arrived an express in 42 hours
from home, dispatched by our Ambassador Capello, with news,
that Cardinal Orsini was chosen Pope, which was notified
next day to the people, by ringing the bells of St. Marks,
where a solemn Mass and Te Deum was sung; and the same done
the following days in all the other churches. On Thursday
afternoon, 4 ambassadors were appointed by the senate to go
and complement the new Pontiff in the name of the republick.
