New York, May 28. . . We are preparing to celebrate this day
in the most splendid manner we are capable; the garrison and
militia will be under arms, the artillery will be discharged
at the fort and all the vessels in the road. At night the
city will be finely illuminated, a publick bonfire and wine
at the charge of the corporation, to drink to the King's
health, fireworks and a ball, and a fine entertainment at
the fort by his excellency our Governor, &c.
