Extract of a letter from General Schuyler to the Congress,
dated Albany, 14th December, 1775.
The Indians delivered us a speech on the 12th, in which
they related the substance of all the conferences Col.
Johnson had with them . . . [3 lines] An ox being roasted
for the purpose, and a pipe of wine given to drink, the War
Song was sung. One of the chiefs of the Six Nations, . . .
would neither eat, nor drink, nor sing the War Song. . . [2
