Across the pond

EFDSSOur sister society in the UK, the English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS), has been making headlines for a couple of new initiatives:

  • New role to support folk artists — EFDSS has appointed a new Artist Development Manager to its staff “to manage the Society’s Folk Rising programme, which showcases emerging musicians [and] commission[s] new projects.”
  • Creating the world’s biggest online portal of English folk music — EFDSS “has procured £585,400 in funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to archive, conserve and digitize materials from six archives containing some of the country’s most important folk music collections.”
