Support Us — Ways to Give

Why We Need Your Help

Our programs and mission are supported first of all by our members, both groups and individuals. That support helps CDSS provide many services to the dance and music community. Other programs and services depend upon the direct participation of both members and nonmembers at our summer camps and on the financial generosity of members and friends who make gifts beyond the basic membership fees. (Thanks to all Our 2013 Donors!) CDSS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Ways to Give

Membership

Our members are our most important asset, and we are grateful for every one of you. Your active participation as a CDSS member helps provide many services to groups and individuals throughout the dance and music community. Maintaining a donor-level membership and giving gift memberships are simple ways to increase your annual giving.

Annual Fund Appeal/General Fund

By far the best way to make an impact with your gift is to make an unrestricted gift to the general fund. Such gifts support all we do, in a direct way. They are what sustain the programs and resources you care about and keep us moving forward.

Spread the Joy Centennial Fundraising Campaign

In 2015, the Country Dance & Song Society celebrates its Centennial. Your gift is a crucial investment in the national organization dedicated to ensuring the future vitality of traditional dance, music, and song.

Scholarship Support

We continue to seek ways to make our camps accessible to all. Generous gifts in support of scholarships have allowed us to increase the number and size of awards significantly in recent years.

Leadership Funds

CDSS is dedicated to providing resources for leaders of all ages and to youth development. Gifts to Leadership Funds support some of these initiatives in specific ways.

Workplace Giving

Many companies will match part or all of your membership gift or other donation. Applying for employee matching funds can double your gift to CDSS. Thanks to these companies for matching gifts!

Stocks and Securities

A gift of marketable securities is tax deductible and may offset capital gains.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is a way to offer current and future support to CDSS through estate planning.

Summer Auctions

Many folks offer material items and/or services for the auctions we hold each week at our summer programs; others give by making the winning bid (and return home with something beautiful, delicious or strange). Donations to summer auctions help to fund scholarships and other important programs.

Material Gifts & Library Collections

Material gifts and gifts in kind provide CDSS with important resources and may help you find both a home for something you no longer need and a tax deduction. We have received gifts of technology, office supplies, sales stock and valuable additions to our library collections. If you have something you think we could use, please contact us!

We welcome inquiries about donations of libraries, personal papers, and periodical collections. If your donation is already part of the CDSS Library, we make every effort to find a new home for books and recordings, by sending them to our summer camps, where they are offered in the silent and live auctions. This helps with our educational mission, in providing new dancers and musicians with sometimes out-of-print learning resources, and raises funds which can be put to good use in our future camp programs. Please direct questions about Library collections to Pat MacPherson.

Volunteering

Volunteers are helpful not only to our everyday operations, but to the long term health of our dance and music community. These gifts are more difficult to quantify but no less important to us. Can you (or your local group) host a meeting? Help us spread the word about our programs? Transport our equipment to and/or from camp? Research or write grants? Volunteer in our office? Take photographs of CDSS events? Let us know! Email volunteer@cdss.org
