OCTOBER 2016

Community Family Dance – new series for elementary school and local community (MA)

Shape Note Singing School – new weekend event including instruction and documentary screening (VT)

Contra Dance Workshops – introductory workshops for middle schoolers (MA)

Billings Contra Dance – new series in collaboration with regional square dance organization (MT)

Western MA Gender Role Free Contra Dance – financial and organizational support to boost gender free series (MA)

Contra Callers Workshop – sequence of trainings for novice callers (PA)

Waldorf School Family Dance – new series of school-hosted dances for grades K-8 and families (MA)

JUNE 2016

Morgantown Family Square Dances – new family-centered series to be held prior to existing monthly square dance (WV)

Portland Intown Contra Dance – new weekly contra series including mentorship programs for callers and musicians (ME)

Kingston English Country Dance – support for monthly English dance and capacity-building workshop for regional dance organizers (RI)

Community Dance – collaboration of Kids 4 Harmony program and local college to host event for families from local elementary schools (MA)

33rd Annual Square and Round Dance Convention – support for musicians to include contra dance in regional square dance event (IL)

All Contra, All Day, the Right Way - contra workshop for dancers of all levels for building skill and community (BC)

Contra Callers' Workshops - series of mentorship workshops for new callers with opportunities to call at local dances (NM)

Open Contra Dance Band Practice/Workshops - several workshops for musicians leading up to playing for final dance (RI)

2nd Annual Dare to Be Square - weekend of square dancing and calling workshops (VA)

Impropriety Weekend - English country dance and music workshops in 3 cities in Bay area (CA)

World on a String Day - cross-cultural workshops to introduce young classical music students to the wide world of traditional music (DC) - see photo at left

Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp - adding contra dance to existing week-long music camp for families (OR)

Youth Traditional Song Weekend - youth-focused (not youth-exclusive) participatory singing event including leadership training (MA)

Fall Has Sprung - backing to help annual contra festival increase youth attendance by offering sliding scale to dancers 30 and under (CA)

Festival of American Fiddle Tunes - scholarship to attend week-long festival to participate in fiddle, piano and calling workshops (WA)
