SHIPPING METHODS & RATES
In general, US orders $60.00 and under are shipped via US Media Mail or First Class, unless requested otherwise. Orders over $60.00 generally are insured and shipped via UPS Ground (or US Priority Mail if the destination address is a P.O. Box), unless requested otherwise.
Canadian and overseas orders are shipped via USPS unless requested otherwise.
Timing and backorders
Orders are shipped within 5 working days of receipt. If we find we are unexpectedly out of stock on an item we will contact you for further instruction. We can hold your order for a short period of time. Otherwise we will fulfill as much as we can and send it (with a check refund if you paid by check). We will keep a record of items we were not able to ship and notify you when they are in stock again.

Shipping outside the US
Shipping charges vary depending on the destination country, weight and value of the parcel. Upon request, we can prepare a pro-forma invoice including the shipping charges prior to shipment. If paying by check please call for rates. If paying by credit card we will add the total shipping and handling charges to your bill. If you wish to be advised of the options and costs prior to our processing your order, please make notes on your order.
CDSS members receive free basic shipping within continental US for orders $250 and up (calculated after member 10% discount on merchandise). Member orders shipped outside the continental US receive a $10.50 credit towards their shipping costs.
Priority, 2nd Day, Overnight or any other expedited service will be charged actual cost plus $3.00 handling. If you wish to be advised of the options prior to our processing your order, please make notes on your order so that we can contact you.
Online orders can only be processed with Visa or Mastercard payments. The CDSS online commerce processes are compliant with the new credit card protection, or so-called "PCI," guidelines.
To pay by check or money order (must be in US funds and drawn on a US bank branch) please make check payable to CDSS, print out the order form (pdf) and mail it with your payment to PO Box 338, Haydenville, MA 01039-0338. If you pay by check or money order and we are not able to fill all or part of your order, we will send you a refund. We reserve the right to charge a $5.00 service charge for all checks returned for any reason by our bank.
Prices are subject to change without notice. They often fluctuate, especially on imported items and those which have been out of print. We will notify you before shipping if the total of your items has increased by $5.00 or more.
CDSS members receive a 10% discount on all merchandise. CDSS members receive free shipping to US addresses on orders $250.01 and up (after discount). Non-US members will receive a $10.50 credit towards their shipping costs.

Gift certificates are available in any denomination but are not yet available for online ordering. The cost is the amount of the gift plus $3.00 handling. Please call to place an order, or print out the order form (pdf) and send it with payment. We will need the name and address of the recipient. You can ask that the gift be sent directly to the honoree or to you for personal delivery. You may send along a personal card for us to enclose if you wish.
CDSS-produced books and recordings (except those on sale) are available at wholesale rates. These items are indicated in the online catalog, or you may view them in CDSS Publications. We are also happy to refer you directly to suppliers of other (non-CDSS publication) items when possible.
RETURNS and EXCHANGES
Refunds and exchanges
Items that are returned, either for a refund or to be exchanged, must be returned within 30 days, in their original packaging, unused, and in resaleable condition. Please package the item securely and enclose a note letting us know what you want (i.e. a refund or what item(s) you'd like in exchange). For your own protection, we advise you to insure return shipments. For returns, we will refund the amount you originally paid for the order. For exchanges, we will bill you for any cost differences plus shipping and handling.
If your package was shipped via UPS and arrives damaged, save all packing materials and call your UPS office to make a claim. For U.S. Mail shipments, call us and we will send you a replacement.
Return any defective items within 30 days with a copy of your invoice and an explanation of the problem; we will send you a replacement.
We hope we never send you something you did not order, but if we slip up, return the item with a copy of your invoice and an explanation of the problem. We will reimburse you for shipping and send you either the right item or a refund for it. If you wish to keep the item, please notify us so we can adjust our inventory.
