Registration Information

Admissions Policy [Back to Top]

Only full-time registrants will be considered. We do not consider gender in our admissions.

Registrations received after March 27 will be processed in order of receipt. All registrations received by March 27 will be processed together; if any week is oversubscribed a drawing will be held. In 2000 we expect to be oversubscribed for all four family programs and most Special Programs. At the Family weeks, each age grouping has a maximum number of spaces available. Our dance/music weeks accept anyone age 15 and up. Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We can also accept some children; please call if you are interested.

Preference is given to registrations from CDSS members received by the processing date of March 27, 2000 (you may join at the time of registration). All adults on a Registration Form must be CDSS members on the processing date to receive this preference. For Family Week at Pinewoods, preference is given to member families that include children age 4 to 17. Further priority is given to CDSS committee members and to registered CDSS group leaders who return their priority forms.

Anyone who was wait listed the last two years they registered is guaranteed admission if the following are true: they must be and have been CDSS members and registered by the processing date each time (including this time), and they must not have attended any of our camp programs in the meantime. Due to the difficulty of tracking, we may not automatically know if this applies to you. If you think it does, please send a note with your Registration.

Deposits and Payments [Back to Top]

All registrations must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 for each individual for each week. Full payment for sessions starting before August 5 is due by May 20 and for sessions starting on or after August 5 is due by June 20. Full payment may be made upon registration. You may also give us authorization on your Registration or with your confirmation to charge your credit card with the balance on the due date. Payments received after the due date will be charged a $15 late payment fee.

Payment may be made by check (payable in US funds to CDSS) or by MASTERCARD or VISA. Registration Forms may be mailed, delivered, e-mailed or FAXed to the CDSS office. Registrants will receive notice of acceptance or waiting list status after April 6. If you wish notice that we received your registration, please include a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

Cancellations [Back to Top]

If you must cancel, please let us know as soon as possible; we often have someone on a waiting list eager to attend. If you cancel before March 20, your entire deposit will be refunded. If you cancel after March 20 but more than 8 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $35 per person to a maximum of $70 per application. If you cancel between 8 and 2 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $100 per person to a maximum of $200 per application. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $200 per person to a maximum of $400 per application. In the event of cancellation without notification, the entire fee will be retained. Registrations are not transferable.

Scholarships [Back to Top]

We have adjusted the timing of the scholarship process for 2000. Scholarship applications will be considered at the time of registration and should therefor accompany registrations to camp.

Work scholarships are available. At Pinewoods, most work scholarships require approximately 90 minutes per day of helping to wash dishes, at Family Week at Buffalo Gap the work includes checking on the youngest children during the evening activities. Additional aid for potential and practicing teachers, leaders and musicians is available through our named scholarship funds. More Scholarship Information and the Scholarship Aplication Form are available. Please note that applications must include a deposit to hold a space while waiting for information on a scholarship. Your deposit will be refunded in full if cancellation is necessary due to insufficient aid.

Donations to the Scholarship Fund are needed and gratefully accepted. If you are able to help another person benefit from our programs, you can do so by making a contribution along with your registration.
