Buffalo Gap Camp is located in a scenic mountain valley in the foothills of the Appalachians near Capon Bridge, West Virginia, and is easily accessible from the MidAtlantic, the South and the Midwest. The 200-acre site with woods and gentle, grassy slopes features one of the biggest dance floors of any dance camp, a beautiful log construction open-air pavilion, delicious food in a Dining Hall overlooking a spring-fed swimming pond, and a sauna - all in all, a beautiful space for dancing, singing, swimming, playing and taking nature walks. Acres of woods and fields offer hiking opportunities and a chance to observe wildlife. We are pleased to return for our 10th year at Buffalo Gap Camp.
Buffalo Gap is an easy two hour drive from Washington, DC, three hours from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA, and five to six hours from New York, NY, and the Virginia/North Carolina border.
Most housing is in small bunkrooms with attached bathrooms; there are a limited number of small double rooms as well. At Family Week, most families are assigned a bunkroom to themselves. At Dance Week and English Dance Musicians Course, we generally put three to five people in the standard bunkroom. Participants are also welcome to bring a tent for privacy; tenters will be assigned a bunkroom for access to a bathroom.
General housing categories are:
Quiet or party area
Uphill (screened bunkrooms with outdoor shower)
Downhill (windowed bunkrooms with indoor shower, nearer the Dining Hall and swimming)
Specific building
Tenting
Housing is assigned in the month before camp starts. Space is limited; we can't guarantee that all specific requests will be filled. Requests may be made on the Registration Form or with information sent later. For Family Week, housing will be assigned based on age of the youngest family member.
