Registration Informaion

Admissions Policy [Back to Top]

Only full-time registrants will be considered. Preference is given to registrations from CDSS members received by the processing date of April 6 (you may join at the time of registration). All adults on a registration must be CDSS members on the processing date to receive this preference. Further priority is given to CDSS committee members and to registered CDSS group leaders who return their priority forms.

Registrations received after April 6 will be processed in order of receipt. All registrations received by April 6 will be processed together; if any week is oversubscribed a drawing will be held. In 1998 we expect to be oversubscribed for all three family programs, all three Leadership programs and English Dance Week. At the Family weeks, each age grouping has a maximum number of spaces available. For Family Week at Pinewoods, preference is given to member families that include children age 4 to 17. Our dance/music weeks accept anyone age 15 and up. Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We can also accept some children; please call if you are interested. We do not consider gender in our admissions.

Anyone who was wait listed the last two years they registered is guaranteed admission if the following are true: they must be and have been CDSS members and registered by the processing date each time (including this time), and they must not have attended any of our camp programs in the meantime. Due to the difficulty of tracking, we may not automatically know if this applies to you. If you think it does, please send a note with your registration.

Deposits and Payments [Back to Top]

All registrations must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 for each individual for each week. Full payment for sessions starting before August 8 is due by June 1 and for sessions starting on or after August 8 is due by July 1. Full payment may be made with the registration. You may also give us authorization on your confirmation to charge your credit card with the balance on the date due. Payments received after the due date will be charged a $15 late payment fee.

Payment may be made by check (payable in US funds to CDSS) or by MASTERCARD or VISA. Registrations may be mailed, delivered, e-mailed or FAXed to the CDSS office. Registrants will receive notice of acceptance or waiting list status after April 20. If you wish notice that we received your registration, please include a stamped, self-addressed postcard.

Cancellations [Back to Top]

If you must cancel, please let us know as soon as possible; we often have someone on a waiting list eager to attend. If you cancel before April 1, your entire deposit will be refunded. If you cancel after April 1 but more than 8 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $35 per person to a maximum of $70 per application. If you cancel between 8 and 2 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $100 per person to a maximum of $200 per application. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before the session starts, we will retain $200 per person to a maximum of $400 per application. In the event of cancellation without notification, the entire fee will be retained. Registrations are not transferable.

Work Scholarships [Back to Top]

Work scholarships are available; most require approximately 90 minutes per day of helping to wash dishes. Additional aid is available and is determined by need and availability of funds. Preference for additional aid is given to potential and practicing teachers, leaders and musicians. Application forms will be sent upon request (see the Registration Form). Please note that scholarship applications will not be considered without full deposit. Your deposit will be refunded in full if cancellation is necessary due to insufficient aid.

Donations to the Scholarship Fund are needed and gratefully accepted. If you are able to help another person benefit from our programs, you can do so by making a contribution along with your registration. The initial round of scholarships are assigned in late May.
