Family Week at Buffalo Gap July 11 - 18, 1998 Program Directors: Staff: *Advisor plus: |
Program Description: [Back to Top]
Bring the kids and come to Buffalo Gap Camp for an unforgettable week of family fun. There will be
traditional dancing, music, singing, storytelling, woodcarving, swimming and generally a lot of merriment.
The program is designed for the whole family to enjoy. All camp gatherings as well as classes designed for
each age group highlight the schedule. Roving babysitters check on the children in the evening so that parents
and teenagers can enjoy the evening dance party in the beautiful open pavilion.
Two class periods, one in the morning and one in late afternoon, are divided by age groups, allowing time for the children to get to know and interact with each other and time for the teenagers and adults to participate in dance workshops. There will be a family gathering every morning when the whole camp comes together for songs, storytelling, singing games and dancing. Then it's swim time! The small pond has a wonderful beach area and a great slide. After lunch you can choose to rest or join with your children in various class offerings. The afternoon class is followed by another open swim time or your choice of several class options.
Each evening will begin with a community dance, a fun time to kick up your heels with your kids. Then we will settle into a quiet evening gathering time of singing and storytelling. The Pied Piper will lead the children age nine and under off to bed at 8:30. The evening dance begins at 8:45 with great music and dances.
Special Staff Notes: [Back to Top]

all, the washboard! Angela has been a featured entertainer at the National Storytelling Festival and many
other festivals around the country. We are in for a treat!

with her family, the McLain Family Band. In the afternoon you will
meet with DeLaura Padovan for a nature and crafts class. You will

a sign language interpreter since 1985, often working with children
in schools. She is also an organic farmer and loves art.

energetic young dance and song enthusiast from Berea, KY. She has been
a member of the Berea Festival Dancers for seven years.
